On the first day – Mnday -of the operation of the Safe City system in Skopje, Kumanovo and Tetovo, as well as on the country’s motorways, approximately 500 fines had been issued by 8 p.m on the 1st of February., Macedonian Minister of Interior Panche Toshkovski informed during his visit to the Safe City computer center at the Skopje Interior Department.
Toshkovski says that most citizens are respecting traffic rules, as expected.
“Today is February 1, around 8 p.m. We have a significant decrease in the number of traffic violations compared to two months ago when we started the test period. We have approximately five hundred traffic violations that have been recorded by smart cameras and I would like to express my immense gratitude to Macedonian citizens and conscientious road users because you are the ones who made it possible to drastically reduce the number in two months, from somewhere over 120,000 to 500 violations. You are the ones who reduced the number of people injured in traffic accidents by around 35% on the territory of Skopje and you are the ones who reduced the number of deaths in traffic accidents from 11 to 4,” underlined Minister Toshkovski during his visit on Monday.
