VLEN: Xhaferi seals the exclusion of the Albanian language from the bar exam

The document dated August 27, 2019, signed by Talat Xhaferi, is clear evidence that the problem with taking the bar exam is not a coincidence, but a consequence of negligence and political betrayal. At that time, the Law on the Use of Languages was already in force, but Talat Xhaferi, as the Speaker of Parliament, did not request the harmonization of the law on the bar exam with the provisions on the Albanian language. He declared the law acceptable, excluding the Albanian language from the exam, the VLEN coalition said Saturday.

“Even more disappointing is the fact that this law was voted with the Badinter principle, that is, with the votes of the Albanian MPs from that composition, who had a national obligation to demand that the exam be taken in the Albanian language as well. They voted for the law, leaving hundreds of Albanian students today to suffer the consequences of a double injustice. DUI, which for more than 20 years had five ministers of justice from its ranks, never solved this problem. Today they shed “crocodile tears” and come out in defense, but the documents speak clearly: this problem bears Talat Xhaferi’s stamp and their policies,” said VLEN.
