The VMRO-DPMNE Albania association has filed an official request to the Parliamentary Commission for Administrative-Territorial Reform in Tirana, requesting the formation of two new municipalities – Golo Brdo and Gora.
This request represents a serious step towards institutional recognition of the real needs of the population in these areas and guaranteeing their constitutionally guaranteed rights.
A new law on territorial division is being prepared in Albania. Until 2017, when the last law was adopted, there were 373 municipalities, after which their number was reduced to 61 municipalities. The only Macedonian municipality left is Pustec. The municipalities in Golo Brdo and Gora, inhabited by Macedonians, were abolished and as administrative units belong to one of the closer municipalities.
