Citizens were outraged on social media that a certain woman was illegally charging entrance fee to visit the Kuklica site in Kratovo, one of the most famous natural phenomena in Macedonia declared a Monument of Culture.
Mario Stanojkovski publicly asked the institutions to check the allegations of charging entrance fee and restricting access to the site.
“The Kuklica site near Kratovo is a natural treasure that belongs to all of us – a public space, created by nature, given to everyone. Today I was prevented from entering again,” Stanojkovski wrote.
He claims that tourists from Kosovo told him that they paid EUR 10 for entering, while during a previous visit they were asked EUR 20 per person.
“They were told that Kuklica is private property and they believed it because no one told them the truth. Newlyweds paid for wedding photos,” Stanojkovski claims in his post.
Following Stanojkovski’s post, dozens of comments appeared from citizens claiming to have had similar experiences.
A post by the Municipality of Kratovo from June 24, 2025, is being shared on social media, in which the local government announces that it has filed a criminal complaint with the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office related to the Kuklica site.
In the statement at the time, the Municipality claims that the building and land on the site have been usurped by individuals who have been “unfounded and unlawfully managing the space and using certain management rights without basis and without the consent of any competent institution.”
