Without the knowledge of the Zaev-led government and Minister Spasovski, the DEA carried out actions in Macedonia, in which police chiefs close to the top who were snitching on the Grchec gang were also arrested, recalled former SCPC head Voislav Zafirovski in an interview with Ljupcho Cvetanovski’s political show.
Now the situation is different, we have regular and close communication between the DEA and the current Ministry of Interior (MoI) and the services, trust has been restored, the security expert points out.
“During SDSM’s rule, the DEA carried out actions without the knowledge of Zaev’s government and without the knowledge of the Ministry of Interior. At that time, they acted literally independently without informing the competent services in the Republic of Macedonia, for the simple reason that those services actually covered the drug channels that went through the Republic of Macedonia. That was the only reason why the DEA did not communicate professionally with the Ministry of Interior and with the other competent services of the Republic of Macedonia. Now we have a different situation, trust has been restored, the DEA has regular communication with the Ministry of Interior, with the competent services within it and since it is here in these areas, it is normal for that cooperation to go beyond the borders of the Republic of Macedonia. This is the case of people with short memories forgetting themselves and thinking that the rest are like them, they are not! No, we remember a little longer and we remember a little better than them, so any attempt to present this case with the confiscated cannabis as something that should bring shame to our services or shame to the Republic of Macedonia in general, is a wrong thesis – they are trying to defocus and create some kind of false representation,” elaborated Zafirovski.
As a reminder, the “Mountain” operation aimed at the Macedonian drug mafia was foiled by criminals from Grchec and Gazi Baba, after which the police were left empty-handed, and the mafia fled. This was followed by a solo operation by the DEA, carried out without any knowledge of Spasovski’s Ministry of Interior and the government led by Zaev and Filipche, in which drug cartel members were arrested, a lot of marijuana and as a bonus, the Prilep police chief close to Zaev, photographed on several occasions in his company.
