The husband and father of the now deceased mother and daughter who fell from a building in Taftalidze Monday afternoon had an extensive criminal record.
Macedonian Minister of Interior Panche Toshkovski stressed at a press conference Tuesday that Stojanche Jovanovski was arrested after yesterday’s event due to suspicion of having committed a crime, after which he will be charged with an appropriate criminal offense in a speedy procedure.
“The Skopje PD has 10 criminal charges against the person for acts in the field of violent crime, property crimes and narcotics. After an arrest for narcotics, 20 packages of drugs were found, and the Ministry of Interior initiated a speedy procedure and submitted a criminal charge to the Public Prosecutor’s Office and precautionary measures were requested by the Public Prosecutor’s Office and they were imposed by the court. In 2025 and 2026, there were several reports of disturbed relations and personal assaults between spouses and the police acted. On all occasions, the reports were withdrawn and the now deceased Ivana gave up on pursuing further proceedings,” Toshkovski told reporters.
Yesterday’s tragedy was preceded by a new argument between the spouses, during which the police intervened, but Ivana stated that there was no physical contact, it was a misunderstanding that they would resolve peacefully and did not require police intervention. Toshkovski says that the now deceased Ivana signed the note before the police left the premises.
