Macedonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade (MFAFT) said Tuesday it has been working intensively on securing the proper conditions for safe evacuation of Macedonian nationals from affected areas in the Middle East.
Plans are currently being developed for the return of Macedonian nationals from Israel via Egypt, using commercial flights and, if necessary, the government plane. For the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, the possibility of hiring a commercial or charter flight is being considered, depending on security and logistical conditions.
Previously, the safe evacuation of one person from Iran – a football player, who returned to the Republic of North Macedonia via Turkey was realized. Additionally, six Macedonian nationals from Israel have already secured plane tickets from Egypt to Skopje, with the Ministry assisting.
“The safety of Macedonian citizens remains the highest priority. The Ministry, in direct communication with friendly countries and partners, as well as through diplomatic and consular missions, is undertaking all necessary activities for their safe and timely return to the country,” reads the government press release.
