All citizens who are over 65 and do not have 15 years of service due to unpaid
contributions will be able to redeem it to receive a pension.
The law was adopted last night, and the PDIF has said that about 60,000 people
have been waiting for the opportunity. Pension fund manager Saip Zeneli says most
citizens have been missing a few months of service, but there are some who have 3
years or more missing from their service. The calculation of the payment amount will
be based on 20% of the average salary of the previous year published by the State
Statistical Office. Members of family of an insured person who has died and thus the
right to family pension have the opportunity to redeem the service.
