The Helsinki Committee for Human Rights expresses concern over the accommodation conditions for group isolation for persons accommodated at the Pepeliste-Krivolak Training Center.

“Namely, the media reported the testimony of the persons accommodated in the Training Center in Pepeliste – Krivolak, where the poor hygienic conditions and the lack of adequate beds are evident. The Ministry of Defense said today that “The Pepeliste Training Center is only a temporary space where epidemiological examinations should be carried out in accordance with the medical protocol. Upon completion of the examinations, the persons will be immediately transferred to the renovated Demir Kapija Institute,” reads the statement of the Helsinki Committee.

The Committee urges the competent institutions to take account of human rights and human dignity at all times, especially when it comes to measures of group isolation.

The Committee adds that the conditions in these rooms should meet national and international standards in terms of access to adequate beds, hygiene, meals and health care.
