More than 30,000 jobs in the catering sector are under threat due to the coronacrisis.
The caterers say they are forced to lay off employees because they are unable to
pay their salaries and pay taxes to the state.
The Chamber of Tourism and Catering announced yesterday that 15 thousand
workers have already been fired, and in the coming days if the Government does not
deliver measures and assistance that will help them overcome this crisis, another 14
thousand people employed in hotels will be fired, restaurants and other catering
facilities.
Economy Minister Kreshnik Bekteshi says it is not true that caterers are not using
government economic measures, and that the announcement of the layoff of tens of
thousands of people is spreading panic and a classic case of blackmail.
