Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov believes that with bilateral efforts between Skopje
and Sofia we will be able to show that good neighborly relations with Bulgaria and

the Macedonian language and the identity of the Macedonian people are not only not
mutually exclusive with the country's European integration, but complementary on
the road to the EU.
– Some of the elements of the position in our opinion are not in accordance with the
Neighborhood Agreement and let's say the issue of the Macedonian language is
directly contrary to the Prespa Agreement, where in our identity card the language is
Macedonian. I believe that with bilateral efforts between Skopje and Sofia we will be
able to move the process forward and show that good neighborly relations with
Bulgaria and the Macedonian language and the identity of the Macedonian people
are not only not mutually exclusive with the country's European integration, but
complementary to the EU. If not, it will be a paradox if we face the challenge of who
we are on the road to Europe, which is built on linguistic diversity and mutual
acceptance. I believe that with a lot of work between the two countries, we will get
there and we will be able to make history bring us closer, and not further divide us. I
do not believe that it is easy, but the bigger the obstacles, the greater the success at
the end of the day – said Dimitrov.
