Macedonian tourism down to “zero” – number of tourists in May down 99.2 percent

The number of tourists who visited Macedonia in May 2020 was 838, a 99.2% decrease compared to the same month in 2019, State Statistical Office data shows.
Tourists spent 4,946 nights in North Macedonia, which is 97.6% less than in May 2019.
The number of domestic tourists in May 2020, compared to the same month in 2019, declined by 97.8%, while the number of foreign tourists decreased by 99.7%.

Data shows that the number of nights spent by domestic tourists in May 2020, compared to May 2019, went down by 96.7%, and the number of nights spent by foreign tourists dropped by 98%.

In the period January – May 2020, compared to the same period last year, the number of tourists lowered by 63.2%: the number of domestic tourists decreased by 58.2%, while that of foreign tourists went down by 65.6%.

Compared to the same time in 2019, in the period January – May 2020, the number of nights spent dropped by 62.3%: the number of nights spent by domestic tourists decreased by 56%, while those by foreign tourists declined by 66%.
