Of 3,421 out of 3,480 polling stations, the State Election Commission (SEC) has
registered 31,107 invalid ballots cast in Wednesday’s early parliamentary elections.
The number of valid ballots is 869,533.
A total of 927,640 voters (51%) have exercised their right to vote.
“Election day was peaceful, fair and democratic, without substantial number of
irregularities,” relevant authorities said Wednesday after the polls closed.
The tenth parliamentary elections were held in the midst of the coronavirus
pandemic and as a result, the process was organized to take place three days
allowing different categories of citizens to vote. Also, election day lasted 14 hours –
from 7 am to 9 pm. Voters hit the polls to vote with strict health safety protocols in
place to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus.
