The opposition wins more votes in Skopje than the ruling coalition

At the level of the territory of the City of Skopje, which is divided into the first and second constituencies, the coalition led by VMRO-DPMNE won 79,630 votes, while the “We can” coalition won the trust of 77,970 voters. As a result, it turns out that VMRO-DPMNE still managed to get 1,660 more votes in the capital.

The opposition coalition “Renewal of Macedonia” led by VMRO-DPMNE won several votes in the municipalities of Gazi Baba, Aerodrom, Kisela Voda, Butel and Gjorce Petrov.

Compared to the parliamentary elections held in December 2016, the turnout in Skopje municipalities has decreased the most compared to other parts of the country. In almost all Skopje municipalities, the turnout was reduced by 20% in the elections held on July 15 compared to the 2016 elections.

The SEC data show the largest decrease in the Municipality of Aerodrom (-26.72%), followed by Karposh (-25.29%), Centar (-24.51%), Kisela Voda (-24.32%), Gjorce Petrov (-24.18%), Gazi Baba (-22.74%), Butel (-22.24%), Suto Orizari (-15.67%), Chair (-15.05%) and Saraj (-7 , 32 percent).

Of the Skopje suburban municipalities that do not fall under the territory of the City of Skopje, the “We Can” coalition won more votes than “Renewal of Macedonia” in the municipalities of Cucer Sandevo, Studenicani and Aracinovo, while the opposition coalition won in Sopiste, Zelenikovo, Ilinden and Petrovec.
