Prime Minister Zoran Zaev through via social media on Sunday claimed that the census scheduled for this year was postponed due to the request of the opposition and its leader Hristijan Mickoski.

We postponed the census because Mickoski and the opposition demanded that it be postponed for several months before the pandemic, and we did that,” Zaev said in a post shared on Facebook.

According to the Prime Minister, every citizen has the responsibility participate in the census.

“Zaev wants to reduce the census to a political bargain and instead of being statistically realized, to be realized politically. We will not support a census law that will not be in consultation with VMRO-DPMNE and that will be implemented in accordance with the political intentions of the government,” said the opposition party.
