You, the citizens, know best that not only words, but the deeds to eradicate poverty is what drives us to act, not only on International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, but also every day, Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said Saturday in a video message on International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.

“Poverty is one of the hardest phenomena every society has to face. You, the citizens, know best that not only words, but the deeds to eradicate poverty is what drives us to act, not only on International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, but also every day,” he said.

We, Zaev added, in recent years have focused our deeds on improving the standards for living and reducing costs so as to reduce the poverty rate.

The PM said his whole cabinet has been committed on saving as many families as possible from poverty, especially amid the coronavirus crisis.

“We are fully committed to protecting jobs, supporting at-risk groups, including pensioners, the unemployed, etc,” Zaev pledged, adding that the fight against poverty is a joint fight where everyone should be engaged.

By canceling the broadcasting fee, introducing a cheap electricity tariff, reducing heating bills, we are influencing domestic savings that are reflected in poverty, says Zaev. VMRO DPMNE reacted that SDSM with its policies not only did not reduce poverty in Macedonia, but it is growing enormously, says the largest opposition party.
SDSM brags about the abolition of the broadcasting fee in vain, because it increased the price of electricity only so that the people pay higher bills and therefore increase poverty, VMRO-DPMNE pointed out.
