When the amendment debate on the Budget for 2021 begins on Monday, as MPs from the Coalition led by VMRO-DPMNE, we will insist on urgent and intervention policies aimed at reducing pollution and dealing with all negative phenomena in the field of environment, said VMRO-DPMNE MP Timcho Mucunski.

Through consultation with the NGO 02 Initiative, added Mucunski, the VMRO-DPMNE parliamentary group submitted a number of amendments that will enable the implementation of specific policies in the short term.

“Subsidies to install home-made filters for 25,000 households heating with wood and other pollutants. Changing the way of heating the health and educational institutions in the most polluted cities in Macedonia from fuel oil/ gas oil/heat mixer/heat pumps/solar collectors. Installation of DPF (diesel particulate filters) and SCR (selective catalytic reduction) systems on buses and construction machines in the most polluted cities in Macedonia. Due to the impossibility to replace the existing ones with new ones, it is necessary to adjust the old buses and construction machines that produce high and dangerous pollution in the cities. Installation of filters on public institutions in the most polluted cities in Macedonia that will not change the way of heating into non-polluting. Subsidies for the installation of gas appliances in 10,000 vehicles. Accreditation of the Central Environmental Laboratory of the MoEPP – Accreditation of the methods for determination of heavy metals in the air, accreditation of the methods for determination of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in the air, for the needs of the inspectors. Regular maintenance and upgrading of instruments used for chemical analysis. We ask colleagues from other parliamentary groups to join these amendments proposed by the NGO sector and experts. The problem is collective, and failure means deteriorating health of all our citizens. If we want to overcome the barriers of the daily politics, exactly through the joint adoption of these amendments we can show that Macedonia can do differently,” said Mucunski.
