The Macedonian language and the Macedonian identity are not on the negotiating table. Nowhere in the world is identity and one’s mother tongue negotiated. Bulgaria recognizes the reality of the Macedonian language and Macedonian identity.
Zaev said, Zaev denied. Less than a week later, Zaev was denied by Dragi Georgievski from the Commission for Historical Facts between Bulgaria and Macedonia. On December 4, 2020, he emphasized that the use of the adjective “Macedonian” by the Bulgarian side is completely limited, regardless of how it is written in the agreement signed by Zaev, and regardless of how we interpret the agreement.
