Macedonia ranks third poorest country in Europe, and fifth in the world in terms of COVID-19 mortality

According to Eurostat statistics, Macedonia is ranks as the third poorest country in Europe and almost half a million Macedonian citizens live in extreme poverty. The latest data from the State Statistical Office confirm that 455,600 people in Macedonia live in difficult conditions, which is 21.9% of the total population.

With the outbreak of the pandemic caused by the novel coronavirus, the economic situation began to deteriorate even more, and over 50 thousand citizens lost their jobs and thus lost their source of livelihood.

Macedonia breaks world black records in the number of COVID-19deaths. Namely, AFP made an analysis in which it came to the conclusion that Macedonia is among the top five countries in the world in terms of mortality from the coronavirus. That is, Macedonia is the fifth in the world in terms of COVID-19 mortality per 100,000 inhabitants.
