Aleksandar Dashtevski will be the new proposal of VMRO-DPMNE for president of the State Election Commission, confirmed party spokesperson Naum Stoilkovski at today’s press conference.

“Yes, I can confirm that with the decision of the last Executive Committee of VMRO-DPMNE, Professor Aleksandar Dashtevski received the support for a proposal for a new president of the SEC,” said Stoilkovski.

The mandate of the current composition of the SEC expires on January 15, and the procedure for election of new members of the highest election body in the country has started in the Parliament.

The election of members of the SEC is done in accordance with the Electoral Code. The president is nominated by the opposition party that won the most votes in the last parliamentary elections, which has another member on the commission.
