There is a misconception in North Macedonia that a change in Bulgarian leadership after March elections will cause Sofia to soften its position towards the country and give up on some of its demands, said Bulgaria’s Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva in an interview with BTV.

Zaharieva that Bulgarian parties have aligned their positions on Macedonia.

“There is a misconception that something will change. If there is a change, it could be to the worse for them,” Zaharieva said.

“We are in constant communication. This is what we’re working on. We’re setting up a clear agenda for treaty implementation in order to make up for lost time,” she added.
