Although this year cross-throwing into the waters of Lake Ohrid and other traditions were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the lucky catcher of the cross at the church ceremony held in the church “St. Nikola Gjerakomija” is Nikola Chorbeski. He was the first to take the cross out of the holy water in the church cauldron.
Along with Chorbeski, the young people from Varos took the holy water and the Holy Cross in the lake near Saraishte, and swam in the cold lake waters. They say that they managed to respect the tradition although in a different way even today, according to the protocols.
“All protocols were respected, we celebrated this holiday in the best possible way. I hope that from next year we will return to the old tradition,” said one of the organizers of the event.
