The Synod of the Macedonian Orthodox Church-Ohrid Archbishopric reacts to the announcements for a change in the concept of primary education and demands that the subject Ethics in Religions remain in the educational process as a separate subject, which will provide education and upbringing according to their religious beliefs.

The Synod reminds that “the state is obliged to provide education in accordance with the religious beliefs of the parents, which means that no one has the right to impose upbringing and education of children contrary to the religious beliefs of their parents.” In addition, the Synod believes that the curriculum of the subject “Ethics in Religions” should unconditionally find an appropriate place in the new concept throughout the entire primary education.
