Тhe unemployment rate in 2020 was 16.4 percent, according to the State Statistical Office.
According to the published data for 2020, the number of active population in Macedonia is 950 858 people, of which 794 909 are employed and 155 949 people are unemployed. The activity rate in this period is 56.4 percent, and the employment rate is 47.2 percent.
The data show that in the first quarter of 2020 the unemployment rate was 16.2, in the second 16.7 percent, in the third 16.5 and in the fourth quarter 16.1 percent. In 2019, the unemployment rate was 17.3 percent.
Of the total number of unemployed in 2020, 60.7 percent were men, 39.3 percent were women.
According to age, most unemployed (98,362 people) are between 25 and 49 years old.
Most of the employees are engaged in the processing industry 158,135 people, wholesale and retail trade 116,970 people, agriculture, forestry and fisheries 95,545, etc.
