The Macedonian e-Commerce Association analyzed the number and value of realized online transactions with domestic payment cards to foreign e-sales points in order to create an image where Macedonians mostly shopped online during 2020.
In 2020, Macedonians realized a total of 7.3 million online transactions with a total value of 229.6 million euros, of which 167.3 million euros to domestic e-shops, which is a significant 73% of the total value of online transactions.
With domestic payment cards abroad, in 2020, a total of 2.8 million online transactions were realized with a total value of 62.3 million euros, compared to 100 million euros in 2019, which is a decrease of 17.9% in the number of transactions and 38% in the value of the transactions. The E-Commerce Association comments that the decline is expected if we take into account that due to the pandemic we do not travel, so transactions for airline tickets and hotel reservations are drastically reduced.
Of the total amount of 62.3 million euros that Macedonians spent online in 2020 for shopping abroad, as much as 73.6% of the value of transactions were realized in favor of the TOP 10 countries.
