The civil initiative called “There must be textbooks” is set to hold a march in Skopje and peaceful protests across the country on Saturday, representatives told a press conference on Tuesday.

Following their announcement, the line ministry released a statement to the media.

“It is important to note that the digitization of learning materials is being introduced in stages. It starts with the fourth grade next school year, and each subsequent one will cover a new higher grade and will be completed in the next 5 to 6 years. The legal solution provides for students who are from socially disadvantaged families and do not have devices for learning from digital textbooks, as well as for students who due to disability need devices or assistive technology, the school is obliged to provide conditions for each student to have access to use “a textbook”, the Ministry’s reaction reads.
