President Stevo Pendarovski informed Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi that he decided not to sign the Decree promulgating the Law on Determining the Legal Status of Illegally Constructed Buildings, the President’s Office informed.
President Pendarovski notes that before making the decision, his team made an analysis.
– I made my decision not to sign the Decree promulgating the Law on the basis of a detailed analysis of the text of the Law, where I found that the text of the Law is contrary to some of the fundamental values of the Constitution, as well as constitutional provisions arising or are related to the fundamental values of the Constitution. I also believe that the text of the Law has no social justification, i.e. it is not aimed at protection and promotion of the public interest, which is the basic task of every institution of public authority,” said the President in a letter.
