VMRO-DPMNE: Public debt to reach almost EUR 8 billion or 64% this year

Аbout 8 billion euros or close to 64% will reach the public debt this year, according to the projections of the Ministry of Finance in the Public Debt Management Strategy 2022-2026. This means that every family of four in the country, from 2021 onwards, will owe 16,000 euros. The Government has already started to collect this money through “green” fees and taxes that this and next year will be introduced for citizens and companies, says opposition VMRO-DPMNE.

“The Government plans to increase the public debt next year to over 8 and a half billion euros. That is 66% of GDP. That is 6 percentage points above the Maastricht criterion for public debt. That is almost double the situation faced by the SDSM government in 2017. In recent years, in addition to the regular auctions of the Ministry of Finance, loans from domestic banks and international financial institutions, Eurobonds were taken at record amounts,” the party said.

The biggest problem is where these funds are spent.

“Capital investments fail with a miserable realization of about 20% in half a year. On the other hand, we read every day about new party employments in the state administration and nebulous public procurements to the delight of government officials. In anticipation of the announcement of the regular data of the Ministry of Finance on July 30, 2021, we ask what you spent the money on,” says VMRO-DPMNE.
