We fully understand the small parties that oppose the proposal to increase the election threshold to 2 percent and therefore we decided to accept any solution agreed by the smaller political parties and the government, said VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski at today’s press conference.
He stressed that the OSCE/ODIHR recommendations should be part of the Electoral Code and that there should be no dilemma here.
“We as a party understand the recommendations aimed at increasing the quality of the election process, and as for the percentage of the election threshold which according to the proposal should be 2 percent, the public should know that the minimum according to the OSCE/ODIHR is 1 percent. However, we express full understanding with the smaller parties and we accept any solution that will be agreed with the government,” said Mickoski.
