Macedonia’s Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi is set to schedule the October 17 local elections on Friday.
Although the campaign begins three weeks before the elections, parties are active and have already unveiled some of the candidates and possible coalitions.
SDSM will collaborate with DUI, BESA and DPA, either in the first round or the runoff, while VMRO-DPMNE has said it would promote new candidates.
It is still uncertain whether the electoral process will be administered according to the new provisions related to the threshold for independent candidates.
