Minister of Foreign Affairs Bujar Osmani confirmed during a press briefing on Tuesday that another Russian diplomat has been declared persona non grata and expelled from N. Macedonia.

“I can’t go into detail as such information are confidential, but whenever the Foreign Ministry receives confirmation that foreign diplomats are acting in a manner that goes against the principles of the Vienna Convention, it takes measures to protect national security and the security of allies. So, yes, that information is correct,” Osmani told reporters.

According to media reports, the diplomat in question is the Russian Embassy’s deputy military attaché, who had disrespected Macedonia’s diplomatic rules.

In May 2021, the Foreign Ministry declared a Russian diplomat persona non grata. Russia responded by expelling from the country an employee from the Macedonian Embassy in Moscow.
