A movie-like escape happened Sunday around 12.30 pm from the prison in Prilep. According to the initial and unofficial information we came across, a 36-year-old man from Gostivar, sentenced to 20 years in prison for aggravated theft, escaped at the moment when his wife and mother were visiting him. When the visit ended, the prison officials noticed that only the two women were in the separate meeting room, and the prisoner was gone. The search for the prisoner started immediately, but without success.

What we unofficially find out is that so far there are no indications that persons from the prison or outsiders were involved in the escape, but an internal investigation was made immediately. The surrounding police stations, the Sanctions Enforcement Administration and the Public Prosecutor’s Office were notified.

What is even more suspicious is that the escape was not recorded by either the prison security cameras or the prison police, and it is not really clear how the prisoner managed to get out of the high prison walls.
