In an interview with the Austrian Der Standard on the issue of the Bulgarian veto on Macedonia’s EU accession talks and a possible way out of this situation, Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said that talks with the neighboring country continue and that, according to him, steps closer to a solution have been made.
I think it is possible to make a move before Christmas, i.e. the Council of the EU on December 22, because Bulgaria will then elect a new parliament on November 14, and the second round of presidential elections will be held there a week later. Thus, they have more than a month to make a decision. The foreign ministers are working hard on that. We are trying to understand the position of Bulgaria and they are trying to understand our position,” said Prime Minister Zaev in an interview with Vienna-based Der Standard.
