Local elections campaign to kick off Monday

The 20-day campaign of political parties, coalitions and independent candidates for the October 17 local elections in Macedonia will officially kick off on Monday (September 27).

The election campaign for the first round ends on October 15 at midnight.

The State Election Commission (SEC) confirmed 303 mayor candidates and 567 lists of council members. Moreover, SEC drew the order of the candidates at the ballot for the coming local elections. Due to the COVID-19 situation, the draw took place without the attendance of the authorized representatives of political parties, coalitions and groups of voters.

A total of 1,824,864 people are eligible to vote in the October 17 local elections after the SEC members at Friday’s session adopted a decision on concluding the electoral roll, which was opened to the public to report changes or updates.
