The resignation of Prime Minister and SDSM leader ZoranZaev is still a Facebook resignation but it has still to be submitted to the proper institution – the Parliament, said VMRO-DPMNE parliamentary group coordinator Nikola Micevski on Monday.

Micevski said the procedures and the next steps in the Parliament would be known depending on the letter of resignation, noting that the Constitution stipulates a confirmation of the resignation by the Parliament, followed by the President’s mandate given to the PM-designate who presents a 61-MP majority, and another 20 days to form a new government.

“We will try to form a new parliamentary majority considering the challenges that the country and its citizens are facing. But if we fail in these efforts, the best option is early elections, because this government and majority have lost the political legitimacy and the people have delivered their verdict,” added Micevski.

He said the situation in the country is very serious and now is not a time for celebrations, considering the energy and economic crises, the new COVID-19-wave etc.
