Skopje was the most polluted capital in Europe on Monday. According to estimates by the International Index, there were 162 micrograms of PM 2.5 particles in the air. Categorized as unhealthy air, at this stage according to experts the consequences appear in citizens with respiratory problems and other chronic diseases.

Globally, Macedonia is again ranked in the top 10 most polluted countries after India, Nepal, China and Turkey. Citizens say the masks are worn not only for fear of the virus but also for suffocation from the air.

“The country, if it wants, can prevent evil. Environmental pollution means pollution of our body, animals, plants, birds and others. From factories that do not have filters, and vehicles without standard”, said citizens, reports ALSAT.
