Number of Omicron COVID-19 cases increases in Macedonia

The Omicron strain of the COVID-19 coronavirus has been identified in eight patients from Skopje and one patient from Kochani, the Healthcare Ministry informed Tuesday.

Previously, the strain was only identified in one patient who arrived to Macedonia from the UK.

24 samples positive for SARSCoV2 were analyzed in a laboratory, the samples were taken from patients from Skopje, Kochani, Veles, Gevgelija and Bogdanci. All but one case of Omicron positive patients are from Skopje. One Omicron patient is from Kochani.
