Number of active COVID-19 cases grows, WHO claims Omicron will not be the last variant of the virus

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the country is 8,209, which is an increase of over 1,300 cases in just one day. In the last 24 hours, 7,472 tests were performed, during which 1,725 ​​new cases of COVID-19 were registered, two people have died and 332 patients have recovered.

According to the Ministry of Health, and the data from the Institute of Public Health, most of the newly registered cases are in Skopje 1028, followed by Bitola – 148, Prilep – 112 and Ohrid – 61. During the previous day and night, two deaths were registered: one each in Skopje (66) and Negotino (76). The reported persons died while hospitalized. So far, a total of 1,633,936 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the country, the total number of COVID-diagnosed since the beginning of the epidemic is 230,265, the number of recovered patients is 214,054, while the death toll stands at 8,002. According to the authorities, vaccination against COVID-19 remains the only way out of the pandemic.
