Macedonia records first case of African swine fever

Based on laboratory findings obtained from the Institute of Veterinary Medicine from 06.01.2022, the Food and Veterinary Agency (FVA) confirmed the first case of African swine fever in two farms in the Delcevo village Dramche where 14 pigs have died. The director of the FVA Nikolce Babovski brought a decision ordering the undertaking of control and protective measures for control and suppression of the disease.

The circulation and movement of pigs, holding exhibitions or other sports or cultural events for all animals susceptible to this disease are prohibited on the entire territory of the Republic of Northern Macedonia, and by the end of this month an extraordinary inventory of pigs and a clinical examination will be performed.
