The Bulgarian government announced that Prime Minister Kiril Petkov will visit the Republic of Macedonia on January 18, and the reason for the visit, he said, is the 30th anniversary of the recognition of the independent Macedonian state by Bulgaria.
The visit will mark a new beginning in the development of bilateral relations between Bulgaria and the Republic of Macedonia and will present the next steps that the two governments will take to resolve open bilateral issues.
“We need to change our understanding of what it means for the Republic of (North) Macedonia to open its EU accession talks and, in the future, be part of the EU. Let’s talk about all the benefits that we as well as Macedonia will have from this process,” Petkov told the media.
