The City of Skopje files charges against Shilegov and Jancheva

The City of Skopje, in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Criminal Procedure, today filed criminal charges against Ljubica Jancheva, former President of the Council of the City of Skopje and Petre Shilegov, former Mayor of the City of Skopje.

This is a criminal charge due to reasonable suspicion that they have committed a criminal offense “Abuse of official position and authority” under Article 353 paragraph 5 above paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.

“Ljubica Janceva in her capacity of President of the Council of the City of Skopje, using her official position, from funds from the budget of the City of Skopje used funds for a celebration in a restaurant in Skopje, contrary to legal regulations for procurement of goods and services and contrary to law for public procurement, while Petre Shilegov as mayor of the City of Skopje, by abusing his official position and authority, and by exceeding the limits of his official authority without a concluded contract, contrary to the Law on Public Procurement, allowed to use and pay funds from the budget of the City of Skopje, in which way the applicants obtained property benefit and caused damage to the budget of the City of Skopje. Namely, Ljubica Jancheva, in her capacity as President of the City Council, organized a New Year’s Eve party in a restaurant in Skopje, and for that she personally signed a special internal form confirming that she used the above funds and submitted an invoice, which confirms the expenses for realized funds for representation”, informed Public Relations Advisor in the City of Skopje Daniel Apostoloski at Tuesday’s press conference.
