Court trial begins foractivist who insulted former Prime Minister Zaev

The court trial of theactivist from Prilep accused of disturbing public order and peace has started in the Prilep Basic Court on Tuesday. It is about the case of the October 11 holiday in 2021, when during the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the People’s Uprising, a Prilep activist in the crypt of the Mogila verbally assaulted the then Prime Minister ZoranZaevinsulting him, reads the indictment.

The judge, who is conducting the misdemeanor procedure, JovankaJovanoska, stated that the process started Tuesday and she cannot comment on the course of the procedure.

“The court procedure for a misdemeanor under the Law on Misdemeanors against Public Order and Peace has started for a case from October 11, 2021. The submitter is SIA-Bitola, OVR Prilep. A fine is envisaged for this type of offense,” Jovanoska said.

Defendant Ivan Jovanoski from Prilep, as he stated before the Prilep Basic Court, does not regret the words spoken, nor is he guilty of the accusation. He says that he has called witnesses, and among others, the former Prime Minister ZoranZaev has been called to testify.

The trial is due to continue on May 15.

Ivan Jovanoski is a local moderator of the Levicaparty in Prilep and is a member of the council of the municipality of Prilep.
