Criminal charges against Skopje resident who called, recruited and incited people to join ISIS

The Department for Combating Terrorism, Violent Extremism and Radicalism within the Department for Suppression of Organized and Serious Crime has filed criminal charges against 30-year-old S.I. with the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecution of Organized Crime and Corruption Skopje who through a social network called, recruited and encouraged people to join the Islamic State and fight for it.

According to information from the Ministry of Interior, in August 2015, OSOSK, SI, along with 34 other persons were charged with the crime “participation in a foreign army, police paramilitary or parapolice formations” (Article 322 a, paragraphs 1 and 3), for which he was sentenced to 10 years in prison and is currently serving a prison sentence in the Idrizovo Penitentiary.

S.I. is charged with the crime “participation in a foreign army, police, paramilitary parapolice formations” provided and punishable under Article 322-a paragraph 4 of the Criminal Code.
