The fixed-term contracts must be for a period of up to one year and must be concluded under certain conditions provided by law, requires the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia.
“Employers should know that all over the world fixed-term contracts are the exception, not the rule, they are applied for temporary and occasional work tasks in certain conditions determined by law (replacement of absent worker, increased workload, etc.), as and for occasional execution of activities that are not from the basic activity of the company “, says the SSM in Tuesday’s announcement.
The union adds that the practice has shown that employers use these contracts to manipulate workers, reduce their employment rights for fear that the contract will not be extended and cancel employment contracts without determining real reasons for termination.
