North Macedonia has done its partin terms of the European Union membershipand I believe that the process should continue as soon as possible, and the announced strategic dialogue with the United States is a process that started long ago and is not a substitute for EU membership, US Ambassador Kate Marie Byrnes said on Sunday.
Asked on the open day for showing aircraft that are part of the “Swift Response 22” exercise at the Stenkovec Sports Airport, Ambassador Byrnes expressed hope that Macedonia will receive a date for the start of negotiations in June.
“I believe that North Macedonia has fulfilled its task in terms of EU membership and I believe that the process should continue as soon as possible. I want to stress that the strategic dialogue that we have established is not a substitute for EU membership, but it is about improving the relations that we have had so far,” Byrnes said.
