According to the data published by the National Bank of Macedonia, the Association for e-Commerce of Macedonia – AETM analyzed the number and value of realized online transactions with domestic payment cards to foreign e-points of sale in order to create an image where Macedonians mostly shopped online during in 2021.
During the past year, Macedonians realized a total of 14.2 million online transactions with a total value of 420.7 million euros. Of this amount, 318.9 million euros were realized to domestic e-shops, which is a significant 75.8% of the total value of online transactions. With domestic payment cards abroad, in 2021, a total of 2.9 million online transactions were realized with a total value of 101.8 million euros, compared to 1.7 million online transactions with a total value of 47.8 million euros in 2020, which is growth of 66.3% in the number of transactions and 113% in the value of transactions.
