Macedonian Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski said in an interview with Kanal 5 TV on Thursday that failing to open accession talks with the European Union would not be a defeat for N. Macedonia, but a defeat for the EU.
“It would be a defeat for the EU. I think this is because the failure to open ccession talks will mean a decrease in the relevance of the EU, will mean an increase in Euroscepticism, will mean a decrease in the commitment of the citizens themselves to the process. Let’s not forget that we have made a number of sacrifices, a number of difficult decisions to achieve that goal,” said Prime Minister Kovachevski.
