The Private Sector Healthcare Chamber within the Union of Chambers of Commerce of Macedonia, reacts to the decision of the Commission for Infectious Diseases, that family physicians should be on duty in the new COVID-19 clinics. Family physicians are doctors employed in private healthcare institutions, not in public healthcare, which is why there are no legal possibilities to impose obligations on them, but cooperation should be on a contractual basis, regulated by an appropriate legal act.

“As doctors and managers of private healthcare facilities, they have obligations to their patients and to PHU as a legal entity, which includes continuous health care for all home patients, not only those with COVID- 19, as well as issuing prescriptions, sick leave and the other administrative work that cannot be postponed,” says the Chamber.
