Up to three years in prison for speeding or driving under the influence of alcohol

The Macedonian Ministry of Justice proposes a new article “Reckless operation of a motor vehicle”, which would be treated as a criminal offense and could result in a prison sentence of up to three years.
When driving under the influence of more than 1.50 g/per mil in the blood or under the influence of drugs and psychotropic substances, as well as driving in a prohibited direction, overtaking columns of vehicles in an unobservable place and driving at over 70 km/h will be punished as a criminal offense and is subject to fines or imprisonment.
