Skopje resident arrested in Shtip for smuggling migrants

The Shtip Police arrested 31-year-old A.G. from Skopje on Tuesday night for smuggling. Migrants were found in the van he was driving during the inspection.

“On Tuesday at 2:40 a.m. on the street ‘Marshal Tito’ in Shtip, police officers from the Shtip Police Station arrested A.G. from Skopje because he was transporting 26 people – migrants from Syria, Pakistan, Egypt and India in an ‘Iveko’ van with Skopje registration plates, which he was driving,” the Ministry of the Interior informs.

After a vehicle was stopped by police officers, the driver and the migrants tried to flee the scene, but after measures were taken, they were found and taken into custody.
